So it's that rare occasion where something so extraordinary comes along that I can't help but link to it (originally from [livejournal.com profile] jaekayelle). Have you ever wanted to see a horse dancing to "Lady Marmalade"? Of course you have, and now your dream has come true!

Apart from how delightful this is to watch, the skill it took boggles my mind. I only ever did little summer camp dressage, but I am quite sure that every horse I ever rode would dump me on my ass if I asked them for something like this. Except for that time I spent half an hour trying to catch Missy for a lesson, culminating in her doing an actual dance with another mare around me - they wheeled and dipped in perfect unison, I'm not even kidding. It was so amazing that I couldn't even be pissed that she wouldn't come in.

Oh my god, I miss horses.

oh my god. I've never seen anything like that in my life! How do they DO that?? Does the horse hear the music? Or is the rider giving her some signal so she knows where the beat is? Does she KNOW what a beat is?

I am just amazed.

The horses do hear the music but its mostly responding to the rider's cues for the various movements. Riders often have music put together based on their horses movement, this mare excels at the really springy fun stuff...and she looks really happy doing it.

I didn't know that I wanted to see a horse dance to Lady Marmelade, but I did, oh yes I did.

Dressage is so damn cool. I wish I could learn how to do that even a little bit. I've only had a few riding lessons in my life, but I love it.

Ok, I've got tears in my eyes and goosebumps. That's extraordinary horsemanship - so perfect and so perfectly beautiful. What a team they make, those two. And how much the mare loves what she's doing! All the way through I kept thinking, "omg look at her!"

Trying to describe dressage to someone who's never seen it is tough. Next time, I'll just show them this.

I love musical dressage! I attempted a piece from the nutcracker once with my Morgan. It looked really sad. lol

These two make such a great team and were really enjoying themselves!
