journal maintenance

Hokay, so. I have followed the trend and created accounts at Greatest Journal and Insane Journal. I won't be using them at this point, but I wanted to start building a flist in case there's a large fandom wave. During my week from hell I ignored most of the "I am here at here" posts that flooded my flist, so unfortunately I've missed a lot of people - except for the PotC fen who have added their names to [livejournal.com profile] potc_dogwatch's list. So rather than me asking y'all your alternative journal names, if you add me over there I'll add you back (if I haven't already).

Oh, I'm still the_dala and the_dala, it might be useful to know.

I should note that I react to change very slowly and with much reluctance/grumbling. I am not happy about this, but I'll go where fandom goes if need be.

At this point, I'm sitting on the other two journals until the tide decides where it's going. I don't plan to leave LJ entirely, but if the fannish stuff is being written, posted and read on another service, that's where my fannish stuff will go (as a practical decision, aside from my problems about how LJ is actually handling this issue). I don't know about the more journal-esque aspect of journaling yet. I'm not backing up my journal because I don't think there's anything here to get me suspended at this time, but I may start adding fic to the others.

I'm still not sure if I understand what's going on with this possible movement of the fandom. I know that two people apparently had their accounts permanently suspended, but seeing as I don't know either of them nor had ever seen their LJs, I don't know what happened that caused all of the apparent uproar. And unlike the Strikethrough, I don't have most of my f-list talking about it or getting outraged, so I really feel like I've missed something somewhere.

I'm slow to change myself, which is one reason I still have my stuff over at The Pit. I just feel very lost and confused over whatever has happened here, and since I don't know the people whose accounts were suspended, I don't understand the apparent need some are feeling for the fandom to move. I feel like Will in the first movie, when he sees the pirate in Port Royal that he knows he killed earlier standing right in front of him, about to throw the grenade. Totall confused, and knowing there's something that's been missed somewhere.
