The chart that shows World's End/Aqua de Vida: what's it made out of, do you think? Would a reasonable guess be bamboo - the base, the moving rings - covered with vellum, on which the map is drawn?

I mean, that's what I want it to be; does is sound plausible, or would you read that in a fic and go "WTF, dude?"?

It sounds totally plausible to me. I have always presumed exactly that. Also, the way the torn edges look at the end when Barbossa unrolls the gutted map look to me like bamboo, which is a *bitch* to break.

Sounds good to me. I had also figured on a mulberry paper component in there somewhere. Maybe as an overlay on the vellum for protection?

I presumed it WAS bamboo. [livejournal.com profile] hippediva had it as bamboo in Never Say Die.
