Had a very interesting and complex dream set in New York. Wish I could remember the details. The only bit I do remember is trying to convince Megan and Katherine that they wanted to go to FAO Schwartz rather than Macy's and Saks. And I mean, who would actually need convincing on that point?

Right now I'm dithering over applying to be a subwarden. It isn't paid, but it would give me a cut on my accommodation fees - £1500 if I worked one night out of ten and one weekend out of ten, £3000 if the ten became a five. What it sounds like is a fairly easy way to make money, but I'd have to do it all through the summer as well (it says you get your accommodation for summer free, obviously assuming the applicants have a shorter contract, but mine is through next September anyway, so I don't know if I'd get anything additional). So once you work out the whole not-paying thing, I'd imagine it would be pretty hard to quit if I hated it. And I honestly don't know how well suited I would be to this, assuming it's similar to an RA in the U.S. 90% of the time I'd probably be sitting around on my ass, but for the times when actual action is required - I wouldn't call myself shy, but I am definitely non-confrontational.

I don't know. I guess I'll apply and then make up my mind if I get it. I'm also going to drop by Kayhaulani's to pick up the application for the Waterstone's in the city centre that she has. Which she doesn't need, because she just got a really great job with the library, and I'm trying my very best not to be bitter about that. I just...need money, and I don't want to hate my job. That's all.

Also, that work-with-horses job turned out to be somebody offering to work with horses, not requesting an applicant, which is a considerable bummer. Although I am thinking of making a similar ad looking for archaeology-related work. Which reminds me, I also need to go give Darren my CV today. And I might as well do some reading while I'm down at the Avenue.

Bleah. I suspect this is going to be a rather dull day.

You could make enquiries at the local council. Very often the conservation/heritage/archaeology people there will have projects they need extra hands (i.e. students) to help out with. You're in Southampton, yes? They have an actual archaeology unit at Southampton City Council. At the very least if they don't have any work they may still be able to point you in the direction of colleagues in other areas - libraries, museums etc. - who might. It's worth asking.

Here's a link to
their details (http://www.southampton.gov.uk/leisure/history/archaeology/archaeology-unit/default.asp).

I hope that's of some help ...
