Something for entertainment in case I don't get the second part of "Blood Ties" finished tonight like I mean to (I keep having to take breaks for tenseness). Probably most of you have already seen most of these (or I actually got them from you), but they are always, always worth a rewatch or six
1. Kiwi! This is, in all honestly, one of my favorite things ever. There are no words for how much I love it. I cry every time. He's just - kiwi ::sniffles::
2. The Potter Puppet Pals in The Mysterious Ticking Noise and Wizard Angst. These are the best Potter Pals by far. Harry Potter, Harry Potter - UH! Angstangstangstangst...
3. Washington. Washington, Washing-ton, six-foot-eight weighs a fucking ton...
4. And the Emmy goes to... Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert present the 2007 Best Lead Actor in a Comedy award to...Ricky Gervais' proxy, Steve Carrell. It is absolutely beautiful.
5. Women in Art. This one's just gorgeous. Somebody did a version with dogs and it was hella creepy. I'm not linking to that one.
6. Shoes. You'll either think this is the dumbest thing ever or the funniest thing ever. There is no middle ground. I think you can guess where my loyalties lie. Omigod, shoes!
7. The one, the only - Dick in a Box. NBC took this down for awhile, and I for one am so glad it's back. A modern American classic, also the only funny thing SNL has done in like four years (except for runner-up Natalie Portman Raps, which is almost enough to make up for Ms. Portman's Star Wars-related offenses).
8. Alanis Morrisette's Humps. Because really, what ARE you gonna do with all that junk? While we're on the subject of covers, I really like Mandy Moore's version of Umbrella. It really is a great song, and I have a thing for Mandy.
9. A collection of clips from My Show - my beloved unwatched show - "American Dreams." It's not really necessary to know who's who and what's going on, that's how good it was.
a. The gorgeous opening credits.
b. The end of the S2 finale - "House of the Rising Sun," JJ in Vietnam, Sam and Meg being arrested at an anti-war protest, the Pryors holding a tense sort of house party where they've just introduced their son's future baby mama. I forget what the Walkers were doing here.
b. JJ's tape from Vietnam, arrived after he's been reported MIA, along with some other moments (including a brief appearance from Milo Ventimiglia, and one of the show's surprisingly well-done Vietnam scenes). Featured song is more apropos than you'd think - "Paint It, Black." This show had the best musical montages ever. In conclusion: tears. Lots and lots of tears.
c. Another S3 clip, featuring Meg and Sam dancing to Joss Stone (as a non-real singer). Also JJ getting beat up by cops, which I forgot about in the face of - OTP. OTP. OTP. I had a complete freakout when this first aired.
d. More S3 - a beautiful original song from Ben Taylor, son of James Taylor and Carly Simon (and boy, can you ever tell), who was a recurring character. Intercut with scenes of tragedy from JJ's quieter days in Vietnam.
e. Not actually from the show, but a song performed on it - Another American Folk Song. The kid who's singing and playing it isn't half bad, but I really miss the footage from the show. It's my favorite song nobody's ever heard of (I do have an MP3 of it, thank god).
10. The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny. Batman! Abe Lincoln! Godzilla! Optimus Prime! Indiana Jones! Santa! CHUCK NORRIS!
11. Some classic SNL:
a. Gilda Radner as Barba WaWa and Madeleine Kahn as Marlena Dietrich. It just doesn't get any better than two of my favorite funny women in the same sketch.
b. James Brown's Celebrity Hot Tub Party. Gettin' in the hot tub! Hot tub, wooo! Oh my god but Eddie Murphy was funny.
c. John Belushi doing his Joe Cocker impression with Joe Cocker. Apparently Cocker was upset by this, but it doesn't make it any less funny.
d. Gilda again - extremely stupid with Candice Bergen. The right to extreme stupidity is still highly prized in America. I wish they had the sketch where Bill Murray talks to Gilda's boobs.
e. Steve Martin's King Tut. How'd you get so funky? (Funky Tut!)
f. Ebony and Ivory with Eddie's Stevie Wonder and Joe Piscapo's Sinatra. I am dark and you are light/You are blind as a bat and I have sight!
12. Okay, fuck it, this one is taken over entirely by Mr. Murphy.
a. Eddie Murphy goes undercover as a white man. Go ahead, take it!
b. A bunch of Eddie Murphy clips - Mister Robinson's Neighborhood (WHOISIT?!) and BUHWEET SINGS! Yay! Nookin' pa nub...
c. Kill de white people. I dare you not to sing along. DARE you.
d. More Buhweet. The reunion with Alfalfa.
13. Not quite as classic but still the best:
a. How could I not put this one first? MORE COWBELL!
b. Storytellers - Neil Diamond. This next song is all about my love of hardcore, barely-legal porno.
c. A particularly good Celebrity Jeopardy! with Connery (of course) and Turd Ferguson, and my favorite wager of all time.
d. The cat sketch with Vince Vaughn.
...Okay, this is getting ridiculous. I just nearly wasted three hours of my life doing this, and now I have to go to bed ::shakes head:: But at least I have these links all collected somewhere.

SNL: My childhood just flashed before my eyes. Including the Steve Martin 8-track of my mother's (who tells me, incidentally, that she still has it).

Okay, I'm watching the Kiwi now, but the rest will have to wait because I promised myself that I'd go to bed AT A REASONABLE TIME!!!.
