WHAT THE FUCK
My iPod just wiped itself. Completely.
I just bought the Once soundtrack from iTunes, it was all downloaded and fine, I plug the BP back in to add the album to it. Five minutes or so and I notice it's still making its grumbly business noise and still has the 'adding music' arrow-circle twirling. I click the little downward to look at its contents and playlists, and I see...nothing. Only the thirteen songs I had just added, aside from the 12 gig or so of AVI files of TV shows that I have on it.
I immediately unplug it, staring in horror, thinking it must be some kind of mistake, some kind of glitch. Playlists? One. Songs? Thirteen. Instead of, oh, the dozens and the 6050-ish that I should see of each of those. All of my valid playable video files are wiped as well - four seasons of Gilmore Girls. It's a beautiful irony - a DIVINE kind of irony - that I spent overs over the holiday burning all 8gbs of the music remaining on my old desktop to disc. There's still about 800 songs on my laptop. But every single fucking CD I bought, borrowed or stole? Is an ocean away for the next nine months, maybe more.
I don't understand how iTunes could make it do that. I don't understand. I never, ever, ever synched it - I always added my music manually. Even so that should have REPLACED all the content with what's in my laptop iTunes, not WIPED IT COMPLETELY. It was only plugged in for FIVE GODDAMN MINUTES.
Probably there's nothing I can do about this. I'm going to leave a message on the Apple support website and take it to the Apple store in town tomorrow. But I'm trying to accept the fact that it's all completely gone and there is nothing. I. Can. Do.
This is a stupid damn problem. But it matters to me. A lot. A lot a lot a lot. I'm sitting here in floods of tears over this tiny useless fucking machine.
I just want to know what the fuck happened and why.

Well, let me know if you need anything or if I can upload anything for you -- I'm guessing we have similar music tastes, so do let me know if I can help.

If it helps, mine loaded all of the new stuff and dropped all of the stuff I had on it previously. So, instead of 1,200 songs, I have a little more than 400. I'm confused as hell.
If you need any songs I have, just e-mail me. I do have pretty much all Patty Griffin's stuff.
