Went to the uni health service today and got a note for my paper, a prescription for some eye goop. Got the eye goop, applied it around 4. Right about now I notice that my face is very, very red, which is something my complexion does...if I've been out in extreme cold or drinking heavily. Not when I've just been sitting around in my comfortable room. The eye also has felt mildly irritated since I put the goop in.

So I look at the list of 'if any of the following statements apply to you, do not use this product and seek the advice of the doctor,' and it has the following: 'Your eye is inflamed [hard to tell; I might be imagining that it looks redder] and you have a rash on the scalp or face.'

Now that's just funny. To someone who isn't me, I'm sure. Because someone who IS me hasn't been allergic to any kind of medication in her ENTIRE life.

BUT WAIT! As usual, I'M NOT EVEN DONE YET. The uni (and several of you) gave me the advice to repair/reinstall Windows to fix my sick laptop, so I asked my dad to send me the reboot discs. Except...he can't find the Windows XP disc and swears it didn't come with one. Which, apparently laptops don't? How the fuck does that work? Can I use the Windows XP disc that came with my old desktop, or will that not be compatible with my laptop and cause it to explode and catch the entire building on fire, because I am just THAT GOOD?

I AM SO AWESOME AT LIFE. MARVEL AT MY AWESOMENESS.

(That's not Mike Rowe in your icon, is it? My god I heart Mike Rowe...)

Nope, not Mike Rowe -- it's Colin, from the Amazing Race 5, in the middle of an ox-related breakdown somewhere in the Philippines. Considering your recent string of luck, I sort of felt the situation was broken-ox appropriate. (And for the record, I heart Mike Rowe too. XD)

that all sounds utterly crappy and I hope life stops kicking your head soon! :P

I would go ahead and try the desktop disks to repair Windows (not necessarily actually reinstall, but the "repair" function should do the same thing). this advice comes by way of my dad, who generally knows what he's talking about when it comes to computers.

Good Luck!!! :(

How old is the laptop?
Also, does it have a reformat function in the Control Pannel? I can't remember what it is called, but it something like "reformat." If I were at home, I could tell you.

And, no, laptops haven't come with disks in about 6 years.

*hugs*

My first two only lasted two years. I feel your pain.

Wow. Things will get better! They have to, right? Lol.

You should be able to put your desktop XP on your laptop. I doubt it will explode and catch the entire building on fire. Worst case scenario is that it'll not let you do it. It should though. I searched the internet a bit, and it didn't say anywhere that you couldn't. It's the exact same OS, whether it's a laptop or a desktop.

I don't see any reason why the desktop XP disk wouldn't work on a laptop. Try repairing it, and if that doesn't work, you should be able to use the disc to reinstall. That's worked for me more times than I care to remember.
