Man, I miss 'Mythbusters' so very much. I just downloaded the pilot episode with the rocket car and the Pop Rocks + soda (proven and debunked, respectively). I love how Adam and Jamie's answer to every failure is, 'Okay, this didn't blow up...so what CAN we do to it to make it blow up?' They are sort of like Bill Nye for grownups.

I also miss 'Dirty Jobs,' because I honestly believe that Mike Rowe is one of the hottest people on the fucking planet, and certainly THE hottest person on TV. Dirty or clean, it doesn't matter - because dirty or clean, he's always funny, and always blindingly HOT. I so need a Mike Rowe icon. And a Mike Rowe wallpaper ::googles::

See, there's nothing wrong with intelligent reality shows. I am not ashamed of my love for 'Mythbusters,' 'Dirty Jobs,' and 'Charm City Cakes.' We're not gonna talk about how I occasionally sit down and watch an entire cycle of 'America's Next Top Model' on VH1, because that's just not relevant.

Oh, oh! Today I bought a drysuit! Well, actually I ordered one, but still. Kelley and I went to Andark after a long and arduous journey that involved the train doors not opening at our station, the trains from the next station going ALL the way back to Southampton, etc. But we finally arrived and I explained to the salesguy that I couldn't spend more than 400, and lo, they had a suit for 379! Which actually came to 399 when I added the shoulder dump, but that's just practical. They didn't have any in stock, but I tried another one on for size and it fit fine, so they're ordering the one I want. Couldn't walk out empty-handed, so I bought gloves - 'cause they were pretty cheap - and a hood - not because it was terribly cheap, but because of the three I tried on, only one actually fit me comfortably, and I don't like those odds ordering off a website. The rest of the kit I can borrow (free!) from the CMA for now; the drysuit was the one thing I really needed. Even if I'll probably faint when I pay for it next week. Still, exciting!

One last thing - I had an awesome dream last night. It was this whole vampire attack/siege taking place at my aunt's house. I don't remember much about the middle, but at the beginning we were trying to barricade the windows, arguing about whether the vampires could cut a hole in the glass like they do in heist movies, while a vampire floated patiently outside. Then at the end, which was right before I woke up, I was the only one left alive and the vampires were giving me time to deal with my fear before they turned me. Willie Nelson was a vampire, and he offered to play me a song on the guitar while it happened. So I requested the Stones' 'Wild Horses,' and Willie strummed away while I prepared to be bitten. I was pretty calm about it because I knew my existence was continuing in some way. Then I woke up, but Vampire Willie Nelson - that'll linger.

Tomorrow we're going to a museum to do ethnographic boat recording, which would be a lot more fun-sounding if the drive didn't take three hours and we didn't have to be at the CMA at 7:30 in the fricking AM...

It was a very involved dream :) Yeah, whenever Adam and Jamie go to fetch stuff for their mythbusting, I always imagine the people waving goodbye and saying, "What a nice couple!"

YAY DRYSUITS! :-D I've yet to actually try one what with this being Florida and me able to get by with a 3 mm in the springs even in winter, but they sure do seem nifty.

I must say that your subject line cracked me up. My wetsuit is hanging in the bathroom so every time I walk in the smell of neoprene smacks me in the face, and all I can think is "wow I love that smell". *facepalm*

Heh. I don't mind neoprene, but it's not quite like walking into a tack shop and being hit by the scent of leather and polish :) I quite like drysuits, as I'm OCD about buoyancy and it gives me a shiny new method of regulation.
