One of the things I like best in movies is to see places I know and love. The bits of Oxford in HP and 'The Golden Compass.' 'Crabcakes and football, that's what we do in Maryland!' It's like a movie kink. I'm watching 'National Treasure: Book of Secrets,' and I actually shrieked when College Park popped up on the screen. Loudly.

I find it so funny that, when I say 'National Treasure' is one of my favorite movies, people say 'Oh, it's so stupid!' as if I don't already know how stupid it is; as if its total stupidity isn't one of my favorite things about it. I'm just an easy mark for adventure movies with varying degrees of accurate history and an appealing cast; just because PotC tops everything else on the list doesn't mean I don't have room in my heart for the others. Riley cracks me up, Diane Kruger is lovely and Nicholas Cage is...Nicholas Cage. I think you either love Nicholas Cage or you hate Nicholas Cage, due not to any inherent skills of his but simply to his Nic Cage-yness. Also, Sean Bean and Helen Mirren class up anything and everything. For the record, I totally want to see that dumb treasure hunt movie with Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaghey too.

Right now I'm having fun imagining what Bush would stick in the Presidents' Book (probably the stupidest of all the elements in BOTH movies). A strip of 'Cathy' cut from the Post? A baseball card? A list of nicknames for his Cabinet? A GI Joe valentine from Tony Blair? The combo to Cheney's man-sized safe? A tiny, faded fragment of Karl Rove's soul? C'mon, everybody can play!

I think he'd put in a love letter from his former college roommate, Victor Ashe. Or maybe a love postcard from Victor's current ambassadorial outpost.

My sister and I imagined Bruckheimer could have fun making the president's last name "Turner" and having page 48 (48? 47?) be directions for finding the fountain of youth. Hee.

Bush (or, Wanker, as I like to call him) might include photos of the dogs, pissing on his shoes because he thought it was cute. Or, maybe, he'd get all sentimental and draw a picture of a barrel of crude oil...
