Oh my god, my dog is like a bad date.
I've been watching too much Animal Planet and trying to train him to, y'know, do stuff. So I decided to work on 'leave it' and sit/stay today, with a handful of Cocoa Puffs (actually bastard Cocoa Puffs with VANILLA puffs mixed in, like, why would I be eating Cocoa Puffs in the first place if I wanted white-flavored cereal?!) He does okay at 'leave it,' especially because he tends to forget where the treat is anyway. But we've never properly taught 'stay.'
I was just doing little short turns in the living room, and any time I moved more than three feet away, Ralphie would lift one of his back paws to scratch at his neck. Then he looks at me like 'Aha! See, the 'stay' is already broken!' and he'll hop forward a few steps. He did this repeatedly.
Exactly like a guy yawning and stretching an arm over the seat in a movie theater.
::shakes head:: I don't know how far we're gonna get with this. At least there aren't any squirrels in the house.
