anonymous is me - but with login fail.

Trek always was way ahead of its time on civil rights and minority presentation. It's one of the reasons that people tended to really love or really hate it.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons it's my dad's favorite show (in addition to "The Wonder Years," which really just says all one needs to know about him). The social context is one of the most intriguing things to me. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get much out of the show, and glad to find I was wrong!

Yeoman Rand was frickin' awesome. I work out at the Ren Faire where many of the queen's guard are yeomen and I always want one of them to pick Rand as his character's last name.

However, the voice of the Computer in Next Gen (as well as the other spin-offs and all the movies including the new one) was Majel Barrett Roddenberry who was in the original series as Number One to Captain Pike (with brown hair) and then as Nurse Chappel (as a blonde).

I am sad to think of them needing to get someone else to be the voice of the computer for any sequels.

Oh no. I hadn't even thought of that!

Ah. I knew it was one of the regular blond women, but for the life of me I couldn't remember, and as I was on my way out the door to (FINALLY) get to see movie, I wasn't going to bother wiki-ing. I'm a bad trekkie, shame on me.

I always sort of loved Rand's hair, crazy basket weave that it was.
