Apparently Chris Pine was in an episode of "American Dreams." It was the one where JoJo played a very young Linda Ronstadt, and I don't even remember if that was the second or third season. Man, I need to do a rewatch. I still mourn the passing of that show.

In other news, I seem to have a Spock/Uhura fic (which is completely separate from the three other files of notes) which is three-quarters done, mostly dialogue. I'm gonna let it marinate a little longer. Oh, and did I mention it was my own prompt from the Kink Meme? Nobody else wrote it ::shrugs:: And then I have a complete outline, also with dialogue, for a Kirk/McCoy fic that is less "you are my best friend so now I will get drunk and have sex with you" (not that I don't love those) and more "you are my best friend, now we will have a fight and also we are kind of in love without realizing it." I'm hoping it works out, because I like it.

And in yet further news, I have to get a filling today and I am freaking out. Which is ridiculous, I know. I just have a needle phobia, I honestly do not care about the drilling, but the thought of the novocaine needle fills me with dread (and I'd be too scared to not do novocaine). Sigh. I'm a big whiny baby.

ETA: I HAVE NUMB TONGUE. But I did not faint at the sight of the needle, so all is well.

From one needle-phobe to another:

This is going to sound crazy but I promise you, it works. It even gets me through donating blood, which is a miracle.

First, don't go looking at the stupid needle. When the time comes, close your eyes, and breathe in to the count of 7. Then hold your breath to the count of 7. Then exhale to the count of 7. Then wait another count of 7 before inhaling again. Then start this all over again. Put all your focus on this and if you start focusing on the stupid needle, make yourself focus on the breathing again.

The best part is the whole process takes just a few seconds and it's all over. So you just have to get through that few seconds.

Good luck! *hugs*

Aww, thank you! I missed this before I left, but I managed to keep my calm. I was partially freaking out because the last time anyone stuck a needle in me was when I had a plantars wart surgically removed from the bottom of my foot, and the numbing stuff hurt like crazy when it went in. I came thisclose to kicking the doctor right in the face. But this one I could hardly feel or see, so it wasn't bad at all.

Needle-phobe here myself. The way I tend to deal with needles is whichever hand is free, it gets what I call my "Vulcan Death Grip" on whatever is handy - armrest, bedrail, mattress, whatever. I usually end up having to concentrate so much on letting go of whatever I am gripping (plus unclinching the fist of the arm that the needle was going into to draw blood from me to start with) that I tend not to notice the needle so much. Having a good phlebotomist(sp?) helps too. And I also don't look at the needle.

Hate needles.

That sounds like a good policy! And how are you doing, btw? I wasn't online much for awhile, but I just wanted to say - ::hugs::

{Hugs} Thanks. I'm hanging, the past few weeks have blurred by. It just hit me tonight late at work that come roughly early Saturday afternoon, it'll have been a month since Mom passed. Come early Sunday afternoon, it'll have been a month since she was found and I got the call. Last weekend I made myself erase her phone numbers off of my cell phone, since they're both off now - had to do it fast or I wouldn't have been able to do it. Still doesn't seem quite real, but I'm hanging. Last weekend was family reunion, this weekend I'll be cleaning and sleeping, next weekend I'm going to MARCON in Columbus, Ohio, and just try to forget everything for a couple of days. Then it'll be getting back to taking care of what I need to do. I know that one day it'll be a little easier, but that'll be later, rather than sooner. I'm hanging though, and we'll get there. {Hugs}

you are my best friend, now we will have a fight and also we are kind of in love without realizing it

best genre of stories EVER!

Sorry about the exposure to needles but it seems too late for any advice. Did they at least give you a lollipop?

They did not, but I probably would've just drooled all over it anyway. I think I got an extra-strong dose of novocaine to keep me calm, because it lasted for nearly four hours.
