So I don't think I've even mentioned this in passing, but I am off to San Diego tomorrow, yay! I have never been to California, never been further west than New Mexico, so I am super excited. We're going to visit my great uncle, but as he is in his eighties we're going to have to entertain ourselves most of the time. Which means Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, MISSIONS (West Coast archaeology omg!), the beach, FOOD, and BOATS (tallships, y/n? Anyone? Isn't the Midway in San Diego?)
Although I'm not going to be out of touch, since I'm taking Artoo. I cannot be separated from shiny fandom for a whole week, obviously. In fact I may or may not be plotting to make a series out of Southern Comfort...just because I could use actual cocktails made with SoCo as story titles. Which I actually don't know anything about, but I found this list of recipes and guys, come on. Alabama Slammer! (My brain wants to turn that into some kind of Jim-gets-himself-and-Bones-arrested plot). Black Widow would obviously be in reference to The Ex - I have this idea in which Jim deliberately sets up a scenario where she catches them having sex (which means I have to erase Joanna from this particular universe, because I don't think he'd go through with it if it jeopardized Bones' access to his kid). I might maybe be able to tie Agent Orange into an already in-progress plot bunny in which Jim gives himself to Bones for his birthday. I dunno, cake and Baileys seem to go pretty well together? At least in my house.
And then, and then there's the title I almost used: Southern Comfort and Lime. And I was all thinking, what could the lime possibly be referencing? And the only answer is Gaila. I dunno if this would actually turn into Jim/Bones/Gaila. I'm intrigued by it because I don't think I've seen it written yet (although god knows I've had trouble keeping up with the Kink Meme since like Day 2); however, Bones? Would need a damn good reason. (Kirk and Gaila, not so much). Maybe Bones is rambling drunkenly one night about how he hasn't been with any women since his divorce and he hates thinking that The Ex was the last woman he had sex with? And this worms its way into Jim's brain (HE JUST WANTS TO HELP OKAY) and Gaila is only too willing to be of assistance? I dunno, that one's going to take some more thought.
But anyway. This honestly makes like sixteen fics I am writing simultaneously and they all need to STFU or I will be having a very interesting plane trip tomorrow.

Also, in the era of Star Trek, divorce laws regarding same-sex relationships after a previous marriage would be a lot less draconian. Think outside the dominant paradigm.

I watched most of that movie peeping between my fingers, but damn he made me laugh.Have a good trip!
Sixteen fics? omg. I won't complain about the three I'm working on at once then. & I thought I have way too many characters in my head.

And yes, the fics have eaten my brain...

San Diego also has amazing food. What part of town are you staying in, and what kind of food do you like?

The Broken Yolk (breakfast and lunch, on Garnet Ave. in Pacific Beach)
The California Thai Cafe (way over in Mira Mesa, but worth it if you're out that way)
Leucadia's (Italian food, La Jolla)
El Cotijan (the best greasy Mexican, a couple blocks north of Balboa and Genesee intersection)
Also, in Mission Valley (where all the malls are) there's a fantastic little Indian place in the shopping center with the Ralph's that I recommend HIGHLY. Don't remember the name, though.

I'll miss compulsively texting you throughout my workday. ;)

Also, if you ever have the chance, go north! The San Francisco Bay Area is awesome, even if Nero did try to blow us up. :(
(Though I'm probably biased since I live there. here. something like that. :P)
