Pie total: $4.00. Also, I need to stop buying stuff at the campus quik-stop just 'cause it's there. It's what, a month into the semester and I've already squandered nearly half of my Flexdollars. I just need to drag my ass to the grocery store and use real-people money.

Music meme gacked from [livejournal.com profile] musesfool:

1. Your favorite song with the name of a city in the title or text.

"New York, New York," Ryan Adams
"Angel of Harlem," U2
"Stay (Faraway, So Close)," U2 (Miami, New Orleans/London Belfast and Berlin)
"California," Joni Mitchell (Sittin' in a park in Paris, France)
"Carey," Joni Mitchell (Maybe I'll go to Amsterdam/Or maybe I'll go to Rome)

2. A song you've listened to repeatedly when you were depressed at some point in your life.

You probably want the short list.

Every song on Joni Mitchell's Blue. That's reserved for when it's really, really bad.
"With or Without You," U2
"Hallelujah," Jeff Buckley
"Thunder Road," Bruce Springsteen
"Angel," Sarah McLachlan
"Landslide," Fleetwood Mac

3. Ever bought an entire album just for one song and winded up disliking everything but that song? Gimme that song.

I can't think of anything at the moment. I rarely buy stuff if there's just one song I want.

4. A song whose lyrics you thought you knew in the past, but about which you later learned you were incorrect.

"The Weight," the Band. I thought it was Annie and it's Fanny. My dad wins this one, however: for over thirty years he thought it was Granny.

5. Your least favorite song on one of your favorite albums of all time.

"The Last Time I Saw Richard," Joni Mitchell's Blue
"Revolution 9," the Beatles' White Album (name me one person who listens to that every time they listen to the album)
"Oh Daddy," Fleetwood Mac's Rumours

6. Song you like by someone you find physically unattractive or otherwise repellent.

Physically unattractive: anything by the Stones. No, I'm sorry, Mick was never sexy. Ever.

7. Your favorite song that has expletives in it that's not by Liz Phair.

"She said 'fuck'! She said 'fuck' on VH1!"

"Closer," NiN
"Mistake," Fiona Apple
"Blood of Me," Heather Nova
Incidentally, they are all usages of the word 'fuck.' It can be so effective when it's used in a relevant fashion.

8. A song that sounds as if it's by someone British but isn't.

*blink*

9. A song you like (possibly from your past) that took you forever to finally locate a copy of.

Hmmm, this would probably be a case of me forgetting to look for a song I liked. I'm trying to think...oh, Jonatha Brooke's "Inconsolable" got to me the first time I saw "Prophecy Girl," and I just downloaded a copy of it a couple months ago, does that count?

10. A song that reminds you of spring but doesn't mention spring at all.

"Wild Honey," U2 (it doesn't mention spring, does it? I don't think so)
"All I Want," Joni Mitchell
"Tubthumping," Chumbawumba (I have NO idea why)

11. A song that sounds to you like being happy feels.

"I Want You Back," the Jackson 5. That's my mile-wide-grin super-happy-inducing song of choice.
"I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)," the Proclaimers

12. Your favorite song from a non-soundtrack compilation album.

Hootie's cover of "Hey Hey What Can I Do" from some Zeppelin tribute

13. A song from your past that would be considered politically incorrect now (and possibly was then).

Who with the what now?

14. A song sung by an overweight person.

Ummm...I fail to see the point of this, but...
anything by Cass Elliot/the Mamas and the Papas

15. A song you actually like by an artist you otherwise hate.

"Lose Yourself," Eminem (I decided to never like it again when he beat U2 for the Best Song Oscar last year, but I crumpled)
"Losing My Religion," REM

16. A song by a band (whose members actually play instruments) that features three or more female members.

"Cowboy Take Me Away," the Dixie Chicks (Natalie can play guitar. Kind of. Shut up.)
"Take It Off," the Donnas

17. One of the earliest songs that you can remember listening to.

"My Girl," the Temptations
"The Load-Out/Stay," Jackson Browne

18. A song you've been mocked by friends for liking.

You expect me to pick just one? I'm a hippie chick born three or four decades late. I caught shit in school for that. Of course, I became a musical snob anyway, so it all worked out.

19. A really good cover version you think no one else has heard.

The Indigo Girls and Joan Baez doing "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" (Bob)
Aimee Mann and Michael Penn doing "Two of Us" (Beatles)
U2 doing "Mystery Girl" (Roy Orbison)
Harry O'Donoghue doing "Wonderful Tonight" (Clapton)
Heather Nova doing "Ship Song" (Nick Cave)

20. A song that has helped cheer you up (or empowered you somehow) after a breakup or otherwise difficult situation.

"Breathe," Michelle Branch
"Brown Eyed Girl," Van Morrison
"Margaritaville," Jimmy Buffett

21. A song you've listened to while fucking/masturbating.

Pass. Just pass.

22. A song not in English -- preferably a foreign-language version of an English-language hit.

"Mil Besos," Patty Griffin
"Amor Prohibido," Selena (oh, Ms Malich how we loved you)
"Non Dirle Che Non E' Cosi'," Francesco de Gregori (Bob's "If You See Her, Say Hello" in Italian -- ridiculously beautiful)

23. One song you currently have on heavy rotation:

"Cannonball," Damien Rice
Mood:: 'contemplative' contemplative
Music:: "gotta serve somebody," dylan
