Right, so this is pretty much the best job in the world.

Dr. Marc and co. left this morning, so I came by on my lunch break to let the dogs out. Digley was thrilled to see me; he's a long-haired dachshund and while I'm normally not a dachshund person, I kinda like him. Just don't tell my mother. Riley is a gray-and-white Shih Tzu with a funny little underbite that makes him look like an Ewok. He was clearly shocked and dismayed to discover that the person who pulled into the driveway and opened the door was not in fact his mommy. I think they're both rescue dogs - I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks his people are never coming home, poor guy. He wouldn't go outside, skittered around away from me and threatened fear-->aggression when I got too close. The only way to win over a skittish dog is patience and application of food, so I spent like twenty minutes on the floor with a bag of treatments before he finally came over. Then he seemed perfectly happy to have his ears rubbed, but once I stood up it was like I'd erased all my hard work and he was scared of me again ::shrugs::

I left work a tiiiiiny bit early to grab some stuff from home before heading back over here. I started all over with Riley, and ended up scooting on my ass over the kitchen floor until I could open the back door. Not my proudest moment, maybe, but it saves me having to clean up a mess in the house. Speaking of the house, damn. It's actually not super-huge - I went to a party at Katherine's coworker's house in Potomac last year, and that one was probably twice as big. But it's got a massive basement with another kitchen, another bedroom/bathroom, and the aforementioned theater. Not just a giant TV: it's a screen the size of one wall with a projector, surrounded by seven or eight big leather recliners. I about died, y'all. But I haven't tried to figure it all out yet 'cause it seems hella comlicated - Dr. Marc wrote an entire drabble about it on my little instruction set. Right now I'm chilling in the family room with the dogs snoozing around me. You could still fit six of my TVS on the screen of this one, so I can't complain. IT HAS WALL-MOUNTED SPEAKERS TOO. Honestly, the decor's not my style at all - too much beige, not enough books. But it's certainly all quality stuff.

My room (the guest room) has a giant bed, a TV, and its own bathroom. I kinda hope the wind dies down a little in the next couple of hours, though - it is loud. I am definitely going to go around closing all the blinds on the million windows.

...how is it that you're the one of us with an icon of him?

It's fun! They don't make for great conversation partners, though...
