the_dala at 12:17am on 11/04/2010It is a Tina Feytastic day. Katherine and I had a date night to go see "Date Night," which I am happy to report is genuinely funny. The whole thing would crumple at the hands of two lesser actors, but Steve Carrell and Tina Fey have such warmth and likeability in addition to being crazy funny that it works. Also, if you've ever wanted to see Tina Fey in a corset - and really, who hasn't? - this is the movie for you. The Marky Mark and James Franco is just icing on the sexy, funny cake.
Olivia Munn was in it for two scenes, but I thought she was Lynn Collins for almost all that time and then when I figured out who she was, went off on a mental tangent about how they could cast Lynn Collins as an alien princess in future Trek cinematic offerings because she is so insanely pretty and would look excellent making out with Captain Fine. So...it's safe to say Munn's acting made no impression on me. I dunno how she'll be in "Iron Man 2," I'm already worried enough about Scarlett Johannsen (Katherine admitted to reading GOOP btw, which cracked me up. First it was The Secret, then The Power of Now, and now it's Gwyneth Paltrow-ChrisMartin.)
And now of course I'm watching Tina Fey host SNL! Including a new Palin sketch, which was hilarious! She is just so awesome and clearly put the fear of God into the current writers. But wow, that Justin Bieber kid has absolutely no acting ability or the slightest inkling of comic timing, does he? I suddenly miss Taylor Lautner. I know he's not here to host, but if they insist on putting him in a sketch I'm gonna judge. Also he kinda sounds like Pink when he sings. I get the Jonas Brothers thing a little, but this kid, I dunno.
Seth Meyers is one of my favorite Weekend Update hosts, no lie.
You know, I really wanted to hate the American "Death at a Funeral" remake. But...then they put Chris Rock and Zoe Saldana and Tracey Morgan and Danny Glover in it. I just can't hate on that cast. Let's not even talk about James Marsden and how much I flove him. Here's how you replace Alan Tudyk: James Marsden. It's really quite simple. That's the only way it works.
