Once again, the "Chuck" season finale was awesome. This one was even better than "Why are Sam Kinison and an Indian lesbian ruining your wedding?"/"Guys? I know kung fu." It's kinda one of my favorite episodes of TV ever, I think. First off I really like what they did with Shaw; Brandon Routh played the part really well. But my favorite thing was Ellie FINALLY finding out about Chuck. Loved that she didn't get pissed at Awesome for not telling her, just wanted to know more - a lesser show would've gone for the hysterical freakout, so Ellie's reaction was refreshing. And I totally understand why she asked Chuck to quit, though I knew it wouldn't take. I also knew as soon as Papa Bartowski said he would tell her everything that he was about to bite it. Actually I knew in the first couple minutes of the episode, 'cause I've ever watched TV before. But even a cliche works when it's well-executed and makes an emotional impact, which this was and did.
Beckman telling Morgan "You're my only hope" with accompanying blue-ish screen and static = geek heaven. God, this show gives good homage. Also am I the only who considered Chuck's flip-to-his-feet in the final fight a shout-out to BtVS? I always got so excited when Buffy did 'cause it looks cool as hell. The fight overall was brilliant (and Zach Levi looked super hot in the white t-shirt, DAMN. He is so my type it isn't even funny). I said "That's my girl" out loud when Sarah popped up and knocked Shaw out, all nonchalant.
Apparently I missed the ep last year when we learned Casey had a daughter (there were three or four of them I missed when I was catching up on Hulu and then I never did download them; sadly I missed Nicole Richie). But I like that added dimension to his character. I should mention that I'm still shipping the hell out of Casey/Morgan, so I read Morgan as showing a guardian/ward type of friendliness for Alex rather than romantic interest (though I won't be upset if the show goes that route next season because it's a good opportunity for comedy. OkayImightcryalittle).
Seriously though, Casey cupped Morgan's pert little ass so tenderly in his large capable hands! And praised him for breaking his thumbs! THEY ARE IN LOVE OKAY.
What else...music was good, I'll have to look it up. Last year the [actual] wedding scene used "Christmas TV" and it became one of my most-played songs. I'm eager to see how the set-up with the secret lair plays out (did I detect a little bit of the "Spiderman" music? It was very Green Goblin up in there for a sec). And who they cast as Mama Bartowski, because Scott Bakula was absolutely perfect.
In conclusion: I'm so glad it got renewed, because it's one of the most enjoyable and satisfying shows on TV right now, and it's managed to juggle what could have been some extremely dubious plot points this season (Chuck/Sarah, Morgan joining the team) so I have a lot of confidence in it.
...And also if anyone has any knowledge of Casey/Morgan fic, I'll be right here.
In other news I think I had a panic attack in my sleep last night. It was the weirdest fucking thing. I was suddenly awake at some point, kind of gasping and absolutely bathed in sweat. It was overly warm in my room, sure, but I distinctly remember, like, wiping it off of my skin and hair ::shudders:: What's weird is that I don't recall any dream that may have triggered it - I was pretty out of it for what I do remember, never waking up fully to check my alarm or anything, but I definitely was awake. I've never had an actual panic attack, although I've come close a couple of times. Once when my dad was in the hospital for the first heart attack, when I hadn't had anything to eat all day and I was freaking out and nearly fainted; once a couple months ago when I had to get blood drawn, my face went numb and I had to stumble to the bathroom in the middle of a conversation before I either fainted or threw up (I did neither, thankfully). Both times it was pretty easy to calm myself down, and I guess I did last night too. It was just...weird.
