Lee is from my town (Mt. Prospect) so I had to root for him, but damn was Crystal good. If it makes you feel better, the 2nd place winner more often does better than the idol!

yes! This! And second year in a row that the better singer came in second. I like Kris and Lee (although Kris>Lee), but they were not better singers than Adam or Crystal. It just seems so wrong.

Yeah, I couldn't even really put a subject line or a mood 'cause it would be obvious.

I'd advise you just to find the Simon tribute with all the winners (minus Cook who was at a charity gig apparently) and various AI alums, Janet Jackson's performance, and Crystal + Alanis. Other than that you're not missing much.
