"Grey's Anatomy" musical episode! Sara Ramirez has been on this show for what, six years now, and finally, FINALLY they're letting their Tony Award-winning actress sing. I don't even care that they're kinda stealing the conceit from "Scrubs." At least they're not attempting original songs; that would be truly ridiculous. And hey, who knew Kevin McKidd could sing? I knew about Chyler Leigh and Chandra Wilson (I still love her version of "God Bless the Child"), but that was a surprise.

Oh, show. I never could quit you. At least you've managed to dig yourself out of multiple plot holes and get good again.

...Okay, no, it's still totally ridiculous. But the singing is good. . Turns out Hot Designer Guy from "The Devil Wears Prada" can sing too! He is seriously so beautiful I can hardly look at him. Also Alex, and the ex-Mr. Jennifer Garner. Ellen Pompeo, eh, not so much.

This might be the weirdest hour of television I have ever seen. A sexy little interlude between multiple couples while their friend and colleague is lying at death's door in the hospital? Couldn't we have made that a flashback or something I feel like I have tonal whiplash.

Well, that was...bizarre. Good ending, but honestly I could've just cut out three-quarters of that and listened to Sara sing for an hour. Anything. The phone book. Ke$ha. Whatever. Her voice is simply stunning.

Actually, Xena Warrior Princess did it long before even Scrubs.;)

Oh I know, I was referring to them using the idea that the musical-ness is taking place in a sick/injured person's perception :) Which Grey's seemed to abandon at points so I don't even know...

Xena did it twice - once with original songs and once with relevant other songs...

Looking forward to watching the GA version - and I never abandoned it silly as it gets.

I remember :) It looked like Grey's was going with the Scrubs concept of having the musical-ness of it all caused by a sick/injured person's perceptions, though they seemed to abandon that early on.

I have no idea who is who in terms of actors, because I watch Grey's very sporadically, but I watched the ep based on the non spoilery part of your review, so thank you! I enjoyed it, and wow the ortho doctor (and Bailey!) can sing, although I sobbed like a baby through much of it (and that is why I don't watch Grey's much!)

Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, Sara Ramirez is the ortho doc, she's a big Broadway star and she's amazing.
