So I'm sitting at the office on this lovely Thursday morning, enjoying the self-satisfaction of having run three miles without keeling over and dying, and I have my iPod on shuffle. Usually I'm the type of picky where I'll shuffle through twenty songs at a time because there's a specific song/mood/theme I want even if I can't name it and hey, there are over 10,000 files on this tiny little box (which I refuse to replace until I can get the same GB or better on a Touch without paying a fortune. Let's get on that, Apple).
But today I'm in a more laissez-faire place and have hit a decent enough run of songs that I pretty much just let it play on. And "Diaspora Oratorio" from BSG's fourth season soundtrack comes on and just...stops me cold. Gave me the full-body shivers. I listened to it five or six times over and then switched to the full album, which I'm not even sure I played all the way through after downloading it months ago, at least not when I was in a position to concentrate on it properly. I forget what a fantastic composer Bear McCreary is when I'm not taking in his work on a regular basis.
Anyway. This track is stunningly beautiful and I had a nice moment with it this morning and thought I'd share:
