I've never heard the Dubliners' version -- actually, the only version I've heard is by a guy named Harry O'Donoghue, whom nobody but my family has ever heard of; we heard his music playing in Kevin Barry's Pub in Savannah a few years ago, bought a CD, and I've been in love with it ever since. If you ever come across his stuff, get it -- you won't be disappointed.
I'll definately try to get my hands on that versio. I like the Dubliners versio a lot - it's not one of the best songs of them (I really love that band - "The town I loved so well" is such a great song, and "Seven drunken nights" LOOOOL)- but still it is so very Irish and lovely!
