The Hunger Games trailer is up! It debuted on "Good Morning America," of all damn things.
Random thoughts:
--Interesting that they've shown virtually nothing of the actual games yet - we had the teaser trailer, which was basically just Katniss running around with her bow, and now the real trailer, which shows off the world-building of the first half and ends right at the Cornocopia.
--I really like the washed-out, military-esque blues and grays of the District 12 scenes. On the other hand, the city scenes have kind of a cheesy '80s sci-fi look to them. I'm not so sure.
--Prim looks so young, younger than I pictured her in the book.
--Not enough Peeta to judge, yet. But the other Hemsworth does look like a decent Gale, if he can handle the heavier material of the rest of the trilogy.
--Lenny Kravitz and Elizabeth Banks look fucking perfect. Banks matches my mental image of Effie (except a little plumper) and I'm so glad they cast her. I think Kravitz might turn out to be the Cinna I never knew I wanted.
--I am less sold on Woody Harrelson, mostly because I was boggling at his wig. That is...a lot of wig. He's a good actor and I think he can pull it off, he's just not Haymitch to me yet.
--LOL that they included some leg-waxing.
--Rue! <3
--Looks like they've having Prim give Katniss the mockingjay pin. Honestly, it makes more sense - I thought that was a bit of a red herring in the book.
--I totally thought Stanley Tucci was Alan Cumming, I forgot he'd been cast as Flickman. While I couldn't help but picture Graham Norton, Tucci is amazing so I forgive. Likewise, Bill Nighy should be President Snow, but I'll take Donald Sutherland on general principle.
--God, the countdown gave me chills.
YOU GUYS I AM SO EXCITE. It comes out four days after my birthday, so what I want for my birthday is for this movie to be as good as I know it can be.
ETA: ummmmm how did it escape my notice that T-Bone Burnett and Danny Elfman did the score? Now I don't have to worry about that anymore.
