the Dalaverse

Hope everyone's gotten through Sandy with a minimum of damage. The effects were muted here (we didn't lose power, nor did the trees in the backyard fall on the roof which is what prompted us to sleep downstairs last night) but the images coming from up north are unreal.

Also, in case anybody else didn't see this: Disney is buying Lucasfilm for $4 billion. My mind, she is blown. I never thought Uncle George would actually relinquish control; on the other hand, I do have some sympathy for all the shit he's taken from fans over the years (even as I have doled out some of that shit myself. Not to his face or anything). And the Marvel/Disney merged has worked out well for us.

And the report that they're planning a 7-8-9 trilogy...on the one hand, someone else will get to write them and actually direct those poor actors. On the other hand, do we really think everyone will sign on for it? I'd bet on Mark Hamill, but if Carrie or Harrison don't, then it's not Star Wars (presuming it's focused on their characters, and Lucas gave them his plotlines so I'm thinking yes). Will it take anything from the EU into account? Do we want it to? Too many hands, so many questions, and probably - one way or another - a LOT of feels.

Sorry, I don't mean to trivialize the hurricane at all, but I've spent the past week immersed in the coverage and discussion, and this is the first thing I've seen that I have needed to post about in a long long time.
