"Pirates of the Caribbean" is on Starz, and I happen to be eating a green apple, so even though I own it on two separate DVDs I need to watch the last hour. I haven't watched it in...I don't know how long, actually.

I have very complicated piratical feelings even after all this time. Watching it makes me feel a little sad and a lot nostalgic. That was a good fandom for quite a long time, all things considered, and I miss it. It was my home. Whatever happened eventually, that was true; and whatever one thinks of the other movies (and let me express here how much I do not want to go into that), the first one is basically a perfect movie. Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, true love, miracles...zombies and powedered wigs and beautiful ships and rum.

I miss you, PotC fandom.

Perhaps it's time to start posting my PotC fic on AO3.

I agree that the first movie was a perfect movie.

I also miss the POTC fandom. I was never active in it, but I did lurk a lot. It seemed to die pretty much overnight, which makes me sad. I guess it just became too spiltered and everyone went their seperate ways. :(

Yeah, the original Pirates had its flaws, but it was MADE OF JOY! The fandom reflected that.

We'll always have the memories... *is sad that this is my only remaining Pirates icon*

I only briefly lurked, but I liked basically all the pairings, too, which is rare for me! It was just that kind of universe...

I discovered the PotC fandom after it was basically dead and binge-read Sparrington fic for pretty much my entire second year of grad school. It was glorious. I just watched a bunch of DVR'd episodes of Smash w/Jack Davenport so I've been having some major Norrington cravings :-D

I know! I didn't really realize it until I was changing the publication date on my first PotC fic, and it was almost exactly ten years old (minus a month).

I will always have a spot in my heart for PotC and the fandom--without the fandom, I wouldn't have half the amazing friends I have today.

PIrates fandom holds such a special place in my heart...and I wasn't really openly active in it until after the second movie.

It seems the pirates vibes are lurking around again these days - I checked on LJ for the first time in literally forever, and lots of people (well, from the ones still around from my flist) mention pirates.

...or maybe it's just me seeing pirates everywhere these days. I sure miss 'em.
