tumblr help...HELP

After fighting the good fight for many years, I have finally given in and joined tumblr. Because Star Wars has taken over my brain (more on that later) and there is zero presence for it here.

But for the love of god I cannot figure out how to follow a tag. I've read the tutorials, but where it's supposed to say "follow this tag," I get "follow this search" which is not the same thing (I think?) And yes, I did swap out "search" for "tagged" in the search bar - screencap under the cut:

HELP! I just want to follow a bunch of combos of Finn/Rey/Poe and feel fannish again!

Oh, and come follow me and stuff; I'm the-dala, because it wasn't taken and I might as well be the same name everywhere. I don't know who anyone is on tumblr, but add me and I'll add you back.

They changed it recently where the tag option doesn't really exist anymore. It's more of a general search like Google. You can follow searches and that's the extent of it.

If someone's found a workaround for this I'd love to know.

Tracked tags are kinda super broken right now, tbh. I recommend xkit to help.

You have to find people who post the stuff and follow them, sorry.


I end up doing certain searches once or twice a day for certain topics so I don't miss anything. Then, I add people who post stuff I like from it. The top of the search has the people who post the most stuff in that topic.

Thanks. I just find it sort of ironic that I finally joined tumblr for this one purpose, and turns out it doesn't even do that anymore, ha.

You can follow tags by toggling the little lock on the upper-right, just to the side of the tag itself. And then install New Xkit, because Tumblr is halfway between being a very efficient way of distributing content and a very effective social networking tool and will not make up its mind.

Thank you! The tips are helpful, it's just so frustrating that I want tumblr to do this one thing that it used to do and now...it doesn't.

Hi, I'm on Tumblr too! Don't leave LJ though: Tumblr is great for watching many things and experiencing different fandoms; but for conversation, especially with people you really know, not just random followers, LJ is much better (plus, Tumblr doesn't have a friend's lock option)
