What a wonderfully light chapter!!
I especially loved those lines:

Jack shuddered. Norrington, having grown up in a fine house with sufficient socks and coats and mufflers, was allowed the luxury of enjoying cold weather that somebody of Jack's own parentage was denied.
That was great. I liked James getting all nostalgic over England and the snow and Jack being the one who had to have a more realistic view on things. Just these few lines and we know how utterly different their upbringing was - very well done, dearie!

Norrington’s chin had lifted defiantly and he was glaring at Jack, every bit the offended peacock.
I love your compairissons with the peacock! I can so see James doing that - for some reason though, my mind is still stuck on "North and Sputh of the river" and you compairing the bragging Jack on the Pearl to a peacock - how cool, that the metaphor works so well for both of them, even though they look totally different!!

He struggled out of the blue jacket, which Jack really rather liked, with its bright buttons and the gold flash of braid.
LOL, this is so very Jack! Wonderful, now I have a mental image of Jack being alone in James's living room and trying on his Jacket (and only that) :)!

Half-banking on Norrington’s sense of fair play and even stakes, half-sure that he’d ruin the whole show, Jack couldn’t stop himself from prompting in a measuredly idle tone, “Not the shirt as well? It sticks to you, I've noticed, and you’d be that much cooler.”
This is so very funny. - Subtle, Jack, very subtle! I LOVE this!!

Yet even expecting it did not prepare him for the reality of all that pale flesh, nearly glowing against the deep wine-colored silk of the sofa on which Norrington sat. Unblemished except for a scar extending from his ribs around his right side – Jack wondered if that skin could possibly be as soft as it looked, against hands and lips, if it would redden under a gently sucking mouth – he’d bet gold that those neatly-muscled shoulders would freckle if they caught a few rays...
This is so beautiful, I don't know what to say. Such a simple act of James's really and jet in Jack's mind it's one of the most erotic things. Beauttiful!

“I do feel much better,” said Norrington cheerfully.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love James in this story? I can see his cheerful smile in my head and - as Jack - all I can do ist gulp.

Norrington shifted into a more comfortable sprawl on the sofa, causing the trim muscles of his stomach to do interesting things that made hatred the furthest option from Jack’s mind.
LOL, I also love your Jack - always blaming the commodore, as any decent pirate would do! He really is cruel though - bending over like this, James really is a tease...

After the brilliant and angsty "North and south" it is such a pleasent surprise that you now update "For the want of a nail" - just as wonderful, but way lighter!
Can't wait to read the next chapter, dearie!!

Thank you! :)

Needless to say, after "North and South" I sort of needed to write something like this.

I love your compairissons with the peacock! I can so see James doing that - for some reason though, my mind is still stuck on "North and Sputh of the river" and you compairing the bragging Jack on the Pearl to a peacock

I remembered that and I was like, "Norrington can't be a peacock if Jack's a peacock," and then I thought, "Norrington is in his element and Jack is not, so he gets to be the peacock this time."
