Okay, spotted the PB reference on the second readthrough (inconceivable![1]), and overall this is wonderful.

I love Jack getting curious, Elizabeth supplying a fair whack of information, and then starting to get cautious. I also found the death of Annabelle to be touching. It's hard to lose a pet, and I think you portrayed it rather well. About the only thing I found unbelievable was Norrington's change in mood with the addition of alcohol. Paint me skeptical, but from what I've seen, alcohol doesn't change a person's mood completely - what it does is heightens the behaviour associated with whichever mood they're in. So a happy person is less inhibited about acting happy, a depressed person feels less constraint about showing their misery and soforth.

But that's just me nitpicking.

Jack's conscience (coming out of retirement?) coming to the fore is gorgeous as well. Sounds as though Jack's come to the conclusion that this problem needs proper fixing, not a quick and dirty patching job. (Can I get him to work on our nyetwork at work?)

Great stuff, looking forward to part 9, when the Commodore presumably wakes up with a massive headache, and entirely the wrong idea about what happened last night...

No, you're totally right. I think I'm just too influenced by college right now, when Drunk=Horny in 99 out of a hundred cases :)

Muaha. My two swashbuckling movies, making googly eyes at each other.
