Today's installment of Amusing Things My Professors Have Said, we have Professor Hatch of the Biology department.

Hatch: -- and if you put your miniature apricot poodle in the microwave and pressed 'pizza,' what do you think would happen?
Dala: *wakes up*
Class: *boggle*
Hatch: Blah blah blah heat energy...and once you were done baking your poodle, it would no longer have many of its initial qualities. Like those annoying little yapping sounds they make.
Class....

Dude. There's analogies, and then there's psychopaths.
Mood:: 'amused' amused
Music:: the song from the "garden state" commercials, in my head

My co-workers are giving me dirty/worried looks because of the uncontrolable guffawing coming from my direction.

I so miss being in school! Isn't Bio just the greatest subject?

...and once you were done baking your poodle Bestest line ever!

Hee. And this is the professor I call Jerry Garcia and my friend calls Santa Claus on Acid in a Hawaiian Shirt, so the effect was enhanced by the appearance.

The 'poodle in the microwave' thing is a very, VERY old Urban Legend, back from the days when microwaves were rare and poorly-understood things.

The story goes that a Little Old Lady was used to having her toy poodle sit in the oven turned on VERY low when it got wet and she wanted to dry it out. So she figured this was yet another use for her new microwave....

I've heard it in regards to hamsters, but the way it just came out of nowhere on an overheated Friday... :)

If he's a good teacher, your prof probably used it specifically because he knew it -would- rivet your attention on a Friday afternoon.

No mean feat, now I think about it. Clever man! :)

But in FACT, it was an apricot poodle! So that would be, what, like ham, which isn't really red or white :)

I love college profs. They've all got such weird quirks.
