I HAVE FOUND IT!

The TAPE. Not the final tape, but at least it's the second edit.

I hold in my hand the cassette tape I call the Hippieish Mix. For nearly a year it was lost. The final, definitive edition is still lost. But I have this one again, buried in some plastic bag with really old tapes, and I am content. I shall now share the playlist. It went through three different evolutions before I decided it was perfect (this is the second). It's going straight out to the Cheese tomorrow, and will never ever leave the confines of my car ever again.

The Hippiesh Mix, Version 2.0 out of 3 )

And for good measure, because I used it in an essay last year and I still have it on my hard drive, The Car Songs Mix )

I love my mixes.

I promise I will shut up and go to bed now.

::shakes head:: I'm such a dork. I'm sitting here reading old essays and papers from last year aloud. I fully recommend that as a self-editing tool, by the way. It's got me catching errors I missed on even a careful read-through. Typos are bothering me, as is my love of long-winded, never-ending sentences, but goodness the Biblical Foundations papers were awesome, and they were so much fun to write. I rocked that class like a giant rocking thing. The cultural crit half of my final exam for Methods of Literary Study was so horrible and half-assed, it's laughable. I can't believe Richardson gave me a decent grade for that crap. She must've really liked my Gertrude paper. The Hegel paper from Contemporary Lit is still hands-down the best academic paper I've ever written. That night, in which I did all of the research and outlining and basically all the writing of the paper itself, felt kind of manic and acid-induced. But it worked to wait until the last minute, because I found my thesis and worked out my arguments and streamlined them all at once. It's very cohesive, unlike the Gertrude paper where I had to do heavy editing and basically move every other paragraph around.

Yeah, I'm ready for the new semester. Not at all obvious, huh?

Ooooh! The 100 Greatest Songs countdown is on again!
