The dog people are coming today. First Katherine, the lady from the agency with Ralphie, this morning, and then Cathy with Callie this afternoon while I'm at work. We've been cleaning house all morning. My mother is upset from vacuuming the upstairs because she thinks the remaining dog hairs are...essence of Hershey, or something, I guess.
I don't know. After all the fuss, I feel almost ambivalent. I think it's from way back when, after Silver, I decided that I'd never love another horse that could be taken away from me -- in other words, that wasn't mine -- because I couldn't go through that again. It seems to have shifted from just horses to all animals, so that I'm cautious about these dogs because they aren't my pets as yet.
Exception, of course, being Rocky. I loved that dog like he was my own, and I was horribly bitter and jealous when the H.s got him. I wrote nasty things about Jessie in my little journal and made secret plans to run away with the boxer puppy. We were twelve or thirteen, around that age, so I suppose it's understandable.
Other things. Tina came over last night and we watched "Bride and Prejudice," which was... OMGWTFMORESINGINGANDDANCINGINDIANDRAGQUEENSOHTHERE'STWICKHAMWHYTHEFUCKISTHEREAGIANTGOSPELCHOIRONTHEBEACH?! More or less. I enjoyed it, in spite of or perhaps because of the total nonsensical-ness. Although there was not enough Naveen, dammit. We then attempted to watch "Constantine," but it didn't go so well. First, it's Keanu Reeves, who impairs my ability to take any film seriously to begin with, and second, Kat came over as well and we were chattering so it was difficult to make sense of anything.
Dala: What is that?
Fern: What the hell?
Tina: It's a dragon flame thrower.
Dala + Fern: *maniacal laughter*
Dala: You're making that up.
Fern: What's funny is, I don't think she is.
Tina: I'm totally not.
I'll give it another try tonight, but I dunno, it seemed the height of crappiness, sugar high or not.
I also twisted my ankle day before yesterday and promptly lost my Ace bandage, so I hobble. I did find the good ankle brace, though, so I'll wear that to work today.
I keep picturing the Katherine-lady as Katharina, because of the name and because she sounded vaguely German on the phone.
