Oh. My god. What have they done to Bridge to Terebithia? What have they done to one of my favorite childhood memories, a novel about friendship and love and loss and grief and growing up?

They've turned it into..."Jumanji," it looks like. Even "Narnia."

I love fantasy, especially children's fantasy. Pretty much everyone who's ever known me knows that. But the book is not fantasy. Leslie and Jesse imagine a fantasy world, but that is not the point of the story. I don't care what David Paterson says (if that's actually him on the IMDB message board, which is possible if doubtful). I'm really upset over this.

I saw that trailer and started wondering if it was the same Terebithia, but how common is that name? I honestly don't remember anything about giants and fairy things, just, like you said, friendship, loss, etc. I'm stepping away before I get upset about them killing my childhood.

Yeah, too late for me :) I wonder if they're going to keep the ending the same. This might screw up a whole new generation for the book...

Is this WETA's doing? I don't care if LOTR was awesome, they've bought up, like, every YA property (Dark Is Rising as well, so I hear) and it's just going to buh-loooowww.
