well, an internal hard drive doesn't usually cost very much. But actually doing the replacing is something I turn over to my IT buddies. It is a pain in the ASS getting all the data migrated, unless you have the equipment to run both drives at once and so forth. And I dislike messing around inside the case, anyway. I have a real dread of static electricity around the mother board, so I leave that to the experts.
Seriously, back up your files pronto. The HD may limp along for quite a while or it may just quit. Once it does that, retrieving your files becomes a problem, and expensive. Also, I've found that backing up the files, so that you're ready for disaster? Prevents it. Some kind of screwy corollary to Murphy's Law, I figure. *g*
