"Star Trek" was...AWESOME.

It was so awesome, in fact, that I came thisclose to sneaking into the next showing next door. Instead I came home and popped in the first season DVD (so I'm not one of those fans*, you know?)

MR. LUCAS I'M SORRY! (BUT SOMETIMES YOU BRING THIS ON YOURSELF YOU KNOW)

So, um, is it weird that I pretty much just want to ship crewmember/crewmember in endless variations? But especially Spock/Uhura, Kirk/Bones, Kirk/Spock*, Uhura/Spock/Kirk and Sulu/Chekov.

Seriously, best casting ever. We can has next movie now? I'm so jazzed, I wasn't expecting to be this into it. Dad says, "I almost cried, I was so happy."

review for the Post is definitely my favorite.


*which honestly I didn't even really ping on until Leonard Nimoy showed up and totally gave Kirk the eye. Then I got it, and happily applied it to Zach Quinto and Chris Pine. And is it just me, or did he later basically say to Young Spock, "Yeah, I made him think it would cause a rift in the space-time continuum so you guys could hook up, DON'T LET ME DOWN"? Old Spock is a pervy K/S fancier!

**although I still really really really want to read fic with this specific movie canon. A lot.

When Sulu unhinged his sword and the blade unfolded and snapped into place, me and the Will Turner in my head both went "DUDE. WANT." (Of course, he was more like "WANT TO MAKE.")

And now I want Trek/POTC crossover shit ... Uhura and the chief engineer being Anamaria's and Groves's descendents, of course, and Sulu is DEFINITELY a Turner. (And was it just me, or did you also get a Jack-origins vibe off of the whole thing of Kirk being born in the middle of an electrical space storm/battle? Remember that bit of backstory before AWE in the game/unofficial canon where Jack was supposedly born at sea in the middle of a typhoon?)

I SO want Abrams to tackle some Next Gen cast mythology now. Maybe the crew can run into Noonien Soong sometime! /fangirls

AWESOME is an understatement. Poor Lucas and Spielberg (only mention the latter bc everyone giggled through the Transformer trailer), *this* is how a movie should be redone / rebooted. I fear I'm going to break my promise to myself to not read ST fanfic.


Nawilla and I left there agreeing that we both want to see Spock/Obi-Wan fic and I'm not even sure why. Maybe because Obi-Wan was the only great thing from the prequel trilogy?

I've missed your writing so much.

I haven't gone through my flist yet to check, but did you see the musical piece about Spock at the kink meme? There's some really fun stuff there, most of the really good pieces are Spock/Uhura.

I'm going to need new icons, aren't I? And here I was so proud of myself for dropping almost all the fandom ones. heh.
